(ECNS)-- A village party secretary who insulted citizens at a dinner banquet on public expense was removed from his post, according to the publicity department of Xinglong county, Hebei province, on Monday.

A video of Liang Wenyong, party secretary of Gushanzi town in Xinglong county, insulting citizens at the dinner party has become a hit since it was posted online last Friday.

In the video, Liang said, "With rice and pork as their daily meals, the citizens keep complaining. They are so disgusting! You should not give him an inch, or he will take a yard."

Wuliangye liquor and expensive dishes such as lobster, crab, and roast duck can also be seen in the video.

After noticing the video, Xinglong county set up a special team Saturday to deal with the case.

An initial investigation found that the video was taken at a Quanjude restaurant in Zunhua city of Tangshan, Hebei province, on May 20.

Liang has been removed from his position, and a further investigation is still underway.
