(ECNS) -- A student in Jiangxi province, who stabbed his teacher to death four days after Teachers' Day, turned himself in to Shanghai police on Monday morning, according to Shanghai-based news website Xinmin.com.
The student, surnamed Lei, 18, who is in his third year at Linchuan No. 2 High School in Fuzhou, Jiangxi province, bore a grudge toward his head teacher, surnamed Sun, after he was criticized for playing with his mobile phone in class last Friday.
Sun took away the phone, and let his parents get it back for him, the report said. The next day, Lei ran into Sun's office and cut his throat with a knife, according the report.
Linchuan No. 2 High School is said to be a local model school for its large number of graduates enrolled by good colleges and discipline of students.
Lei and his sister transferred to the school from another city, and his sister went to college this year.
Kong, who has taught physics at the school for 29 years, said children with no siblings and left-behind children are more vulnerable emotionally and teachers have to try to understand them. Kong said that teachers were also under a lot of pressure from gaokao (the Chinese college entrance examination).
Sun, who born in 1981, began teaching at the school in 2008, and his daughter is less than one year old.
