(ECNS) -- An application called "Go Home" has been launched to help users keep in touch with family members.

"Go Home" is a contact-management app that allows users to set up a list of family members and call any of them instantly.

It also has a built-in reminder of important festivals such as Mid-autumn Day, Double Ninth Festival, Mother's Day and Father's Day. Users can also customize reminders for any other important days related to their family members.

Qiu Ling, one of the developers, said the new law urging children to visit their elderly parents was the inspiration for the app.

"Calling home is the simplest way to maintain family relations. We hope users can at least do that," Qiu said. But "we are hoping that users can go home to accompany their elderly parents regularly."

China's new "Elderly Rights Law," which came into effect on July 1, 2013, requires people to visit or keep in touch with their elderly parents, or else they will risk penalties.
