(ECNS) -- Two robots have begun helping out at the canteen at Beijing Jiaotong University, according to the Beijing Morning Post.

The robots, looking like roller washing machines, stand about one meter high and can finish preparing one course in three minutes.

"The robots can cook 99 kinds of dishes. We use them to cook about 80 times a day," said a human cook at the canteen. But he isn't worried about competition with the robots, which "need me to season the dishes."

"Compared with ordinary kitchen ranges, the robots save 50 percent on water and fuel. What's more, they can reduce emissions by 86 percent," said the staffer.

A post by the robot on Weibo, China's Twitter-like social media site, has received a number of re-posts and comments. Many netizens say they want to try the robot-made dishes.
