(ECNS) -- Kai-Fu Lee, 51, founder and CEO of Innovation Works and former president of Google China, has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

Around 10 o'clock last night, Lee posted on his Sina Weibo that "Everyone is equal before cancer." The post was soon followed by an influx of responses from netizens wishing for Lee's recovery.

Wang Zhaohui, co-founder of Innovation Works, later confirmed the news.

Li.s latest post on his Weibo said: "Although lymph cancer doesn.t sound optimistic and it makes my family and friends concerned, this is just life: it comes as a surprise, but I should face it calmly. Pain is part of life, I will face the ups and downs of life with a more positive attitude."

Lee has been active on Weibo and Wechat, where he has over 50 million followers and often offers life advice to young people.

In April, Lee was listed among Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.
