(ECNS) -- A picture of students wearing cheongsams on Renren.com, which was said to help a campus debate team recruit new members, became viral on the Internet, Hubei's Chutian Metropolis Daily reported.

The young women in the picture were members of the debate team at Central China Normal University.

Du Yawen, a senior at the university who posted the picture with her Renren account, said the photo was originally taken in June to mark the members' graduation. When the photo came out, the debate team captain proposed using it as the team's recruiting poster in the new semester, which was approved.

A netizen questioned whether the debate team was looking for debaters or beauties with such a poster. Du said another netizen replied that debates relied on speech competence, not on beautiful legs.
