(ECNS) -- The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking to recruit more Chinese, according to Judith K. Gelman, a special agent recruiter for the bureau.

Gelman made the remarks at a job fair held in Alhambra, a city in Los Angeles county.

"This round of recruitment will focus on two types of careers with the FBI: the special agent positions, and our professional staff (administrative) positions," said Gelman.

The annual salary for an FBI agent stands between 60,000 and 65,000 US dollars, and 30,000 to 40,000 US dollars for professional staff, said Gelman.

Since Mandarin represents one of the foreign languages most needed by the FBI, Chinese-speaking talents will be better paid than their peers, Gelman added.
