(ECNS) -- A stone statue of an ancient man holding a camera was erected in Nanning's Golden Camellia Park, spurring different views from visitors, according to gxnews.com.cn.

Other than the camera, the statue is dressed in ancient period clothing and is carrying a travel backpack and holding a cane in his left hand.

A young visitor surnamed Zhong, born in the 1990s, said the statue is creative. "It's interesting. It looks like the man has traveled in a time machine."

But some elder visitors said it's hard for them to accept the concept. "It's ridiculous to mix ancient elements with modern ones on a statue," one of them said.

An employee at the park said on Monday the statue, shooting golden camellias with a camera, is just a generic ancient man, and implies that the study of the golden camellia has been continuing from ancient times to the present day.

The employee added that the park will put up a flagstone next to the statue with an explanation, to help visitors better understand the statue.
