(ECNS) -- The Beijing Design Week organizing committee revealed on Tuesday that the giant rubber duck will be on tour in Beijing, Sept 16 to Oct 17, Beijing Daily reported.
The committee consulted with Florentijn Hofman, the creator of the giant rubber duck, and they agreed to raise the duck's height. The duck in Beijing will be bigger than the Hong Kong one, which was 16.5 meters tall.
The committee will settle the giant rubber duck in waters beyond the Third Ring Road, said Zeng Hui, deputy director of the committee. But the location hasn't been unveiled yet.
Leading candidates include Summer Palace, Chaoyang Park, and Olympic Forest Park.
Combined with Beijing's cultural history, more derivative projects will be developed to match the city's landscape and environment, Zeng said.
Shichahai Lake will be the main place to showcase the projects.
The committee has hired legal counsel and worked out ways to protect the giant rubber duck's copyright, Zeng said.
"Starting with protecting the duck's copyright, we will try our best to build an atmosphere of valuing copyrights and protecting original works," Zeng added.
