Zhangjiakou (CNS) -- The position of Ayers Rock as the world's largest monolith is expected to be challenged by a megalith named Dishuiya, which means dripping rock, in Chicheng county, Hebei province.
Dishuiya is a single piece of rock 560 meters tall and 9,500 meters long.
"Dishuiya is even larger than Australia's Ayers Rock in terms of its floor space and height," said Liu Jianzhi, an official at the publicity department of Chicheng county.
Researchers in Chicheng county are trying to measure its accurate data, Liu added.
Located in the southern part of the Northern Territory of central Australia, Ayers Rock has been crowned the largest monolith in the world, with its length reaching 3,000 meters, and width of 348 meters.
