Beijing (CNS) -- The Chinese Embassy in Ghana released an emergency notice on Thursday, urging unauthorized Chinese gold diggers to return home as soon as possible.

The Ghanaian government will redouble its efforts in cracking down on illegal mining, according to the embassy. All unauthorized gold diggers will be severely punished according to local laws and regulations if they stay there.

Any Chinese worker who engages in illegal mining in Ghana should give up and return to China as soon as possible, to preserve their rights and interests, the notice said.

As air tickets from Ghana to China are limited, ticket scalpers in Ghana are trying to defraud people by spreading false ticket information.

Chinese nationals in Ghana are urged to buy tickets only from certified agencies.
