Chengdu (CNS) -- Top executives from large-scale enterprises addressed China's "urban diseases" in their discussion Friday at the 12th Global Fortune Forum held in the southwestern city of Chengdu.

Jean-Pascal Tricoire, chairman and chief executive of Schneider Electric, said the heavy haze in most cities of China is not a unique case.

No one should criticize China on it, since China, with a large population of one billion, faces greater challenges than any other country in the world, he added. He also suggested applying more techniques in building.

Zhang Yue, founder and CEO of Broad Group, maker of energy equipment and real estate development company, said the best solution is to establish a "mixed community" that provides schools and hospitals, and allows people to live and work on site, reducing energy consumption.

David Cote, chairman and CEO of Honeywell, said building smart cities helps reduce people's impact on the environment. Mistakes can be avoided after experiences are shared via social media, he added.

Big cities in China are on the brink of a major shortfall in resources and infrastructure capacity, under a problem termed "urban diseases."
