Loneliness and isolation

Many Chinese overseas students have reported experiencing a sense of loneliness and isolation in faraway lands.

Those born in the 1990s flock to the US only to find themselves unable to adapt to the new environment, and they may easily go astray by indulging in material gratification, Michael Chuleader, leader of the Flushing Neighborhood Watch Team, was quoted as saying by the China Press.

Meng Yang, born in the 1990s, said he would read messages his Chinese friends'write on microblog and WeChat every morning and evening.

"Sometimes I would feel I'm still living in China, " Meng said.

Poor understanding of local laws

Poor knowledge of local laws may subject overseas Chinese students to committing crimes.

If an overseas student in Britain is caught acting as a purchasing agent, he or she would very likely be deported, according to BBC UKChina, BBC's Chinese website.

In addition, poor understanding of local laws may bring inconveniences to overseas students or even result in them incurring economic losses.

Moreover, some overseas students may become targets of criminals due to poor knowledge of local laws.
