Washington (CNS) -- The Chinese ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, said on Saturday that the Chinese student injured in the Boston blasts has been recovering.

Zhou Danling, a female graduate student from Boston University who is being treated in a hospital, is "on the way to recovery and in a good psychological condition," the ambassador said at an awards ceremony.

Ambassador Cui said he visited Zhou a week before and learned that many Chinese overseas students in Boston and other regions had offered to help Zhou and her family.

Cui called for the cooperation of all Chinese people in overcoming difficulties on the road ahead.

During the ceremony, he also awarded government scholarships to 25 overseas students.

Altogether 250,000 Chinese students and scholars studied in the United States from 2011 to 2012, and the number of Chinese students in US colleges reached 194,000, the most among all international students, according to Cui.
