Ordos (CNS) -- Over 100 South Korean students, volunteers and civic-minded people recently traveled to the city of Ordos, Inner Mongolia, for a three-day desert hike and tree planting at the invitation of the South Korean-China Cultural and Youth Association (Future Forest).

Dressed in green coats, the team was led by Mr. Kwon Byong–Hyon, former Korean ambassador to China.

"Environmental protection requires the participation of every individual. People from all walks of life have shown strong support for my work, which consolidates my continuous commitment to this cause," said Kwon, who is in his 60s.

"I have been here four times and lost count of the number of trees I have planted. The aim is to help people experience the environment in the desert and learn about the importance of planting trees and protecting the environment," said a Korean student in China.

"Environmental protection is a cause for all countries and regions. I come here every year, and each time with different feelings. While crossing the desert, I have seen the area of trees gradually expand, a gratifying result of our dedication to tree planting and environmental protection in the past several years. Our efforts are paying off," said Kwon.
