Chinese mainlanders are biggest spenders in Japan  

赴日外国游客中国大陆人消费额居首 占总额1/4

据日本共同社报道,日本观光厅17日公布的调查结果显示,据估算2012年赴日中国大陆游客在购物、饮食、住宿上的消费总额高达2688亿日元(约合人民币170亿元),居各个国家及地区之首。

(Ecns.cn) -- Survey results released by the Japan Tourism Agency show that total spending by Chinese mainland tourists in Japan led the world to reach 26.9 billion yen (17 billion yuan) in 2012, Kyodo News Service reported.

Since 2010, tourists from the Chinese mainland have topped the survey every year, with only per capita spending trailing behind Australian tourists.

Spending by Chinese mainland tourists account for a quarter of the total spending by foreign tourists, followed by Taiwanese and South Koreans.

The number of Chinese mainland tourists to Japan ranks third, trailing behind tourists from South Korea and Taiwan. According to the agency, high-end cameras and home appliances are the favorite souvenirs among mainland tourists.

The survey was conducted among 290,000 tourists at 10 airports and Hakata Port in Japan.
