Guangzhou (CNS) -- More Chinese trading companies are turning their eyes to the market of emerging economies, according to program organizers at the ongoing Canton Fair 2013.
Statistics released by the program organizer on Wednesday shows that the number of overseas buyers attending the event reached 73,772 in the first two days, representing an annual increase of 13.6 percent.
The number of buyers from emerging economies has increased dramatically. African buyers increased by 30 percent, and Indian buyers by 60 percent.
The active market in emerging economies has become a highlight for China's foreign trade industry amid the soured China-Japan relationship, the sluggish economic performance in the US, and the persistent European debt crises.
Emerging market countries have provided new opportunities for China's trade industry amid the uncertain global business environment, said Wang Zhiping, secretary general of the Canton Fair.
Official statistics show that the share of traditional markets such as Japan and America in China's foreign trade decreased 2.1 percentage points in 2012, while the proportion contributed by emerging economies, including ASEAN, Russia and South Africa, increased by 0.8 percentage points, to 20 percent, last year.
