中国住房和城乡建设部9日公布今年保障房建设计划部署称，将完善保障性住房分配与管理机制，适当上调收入线标准，有序扩大住房保障覆盖范围。
Beijing (CNS) -- The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development said Tuesday that it will accelerate affordable housing construction and cover more citizens in the program.
The ministry announced its affordable housing plan for 2013, saying 4.7 million units of affordable apartments will be completed, and 6.3 million units were started in 2013.
The country will strive to guarantee public housing as well as improve housing quality and support facilities in affordable housing communities, it said.
The ministry also urged local governments to allow migrant workers to apply for affordable housing, and specify requirements and procedures.
It said the government may lower the income threshold for affordable housing and encourage private capital to get involved in the program.
The country's large slum areas will be rebuilt by 2015, it said.
Zhang Dawei, an analyst at Centaline Property, said the large number of affordable houses may lower property prices in the future.
