Beijing (CNS) -- Apple service providers' after-sale concerning the warranty period of the mainboard on the MacBook Air laptop is a violation of China's laws and regulations, according to the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) on Wednesday.

In the clause, the company promises to repair the mainboard of the MacBook Air laptop within one year of purchase in China, while according to China's law for computer sales, the warranty period should be at least two years.

The clause should be revised, or the case will be handled by law enforcement departments in accordance with China's regulations, according to AQSIQ.

A report by China Central Television (CCTV) on March 15, which was World Consumer Rights Day, criticized Apple's after-sale services for Chinese consumers, saying that they were different from those in other countries.

The report led to a flurry of online criticism.

In response, Apple released several statements, saying that the company has always devoted itself to producing world-class products and services, and that it pays great attention to consumers' opinions and suggestions. However, these statements did little to ease Chinese consumers' concerns.
