China to serve as guest of honor at Janadriya Festival

由文化部等主办的“璀璨中华”——2013年沙特“杰纳第利亚遗产文化节”中国主宾国活动18日在北京首都博物馆启动，影星成龙现场获聘本次文化节“中国文化大使兼主宾国馆荣誉馆长”。

Beijing (CNS) -- China will be the guest of honor this year at Saudi Arabia's Janadriya Festival, the country's top national festival for heritage and culture.

Actor Jackie Chan will serve as the Chinese cultural ambassador for the event.

The festival is held annually to showcase the past and present Saudi Arabia, and is the most attended event in the country.

Being the 28th session of the event, the festival will provide an opportunity to improve relations between Saudi Arabia and China in the political, economic and cultural areas.

At a press conference on Monday, Jackie Chan said he was willing to play an active part in the event and contribute to the spreading of Chinese culture to friends in Saudi Arabia.

Under the theme "Brilliant China," this year's Janadriyah Festival will feature outdoor shows, exhibitions, and cultural symposiums. A total of 200 people from 15 Chinese exhibitors will attend.

Time-honored brands including Chinese pharmaceutical company Tong Ren Tang and tea company Wu Yu Tai will also attend the exhibitions at the China pavilion.

The event will be held from April 3 and April 19.
