Erenhot (CNS) -- The China-Mongolia-Russia trans-continent train K3/4 returned to China on Saturday night, finishing a smooth trial run.

Seventy crew members on 12 carriages were trained during the journey. Fuel-servicing, fire control and other equipment were also tested.

The train departed from Beijing on March 12 and went through Erenhot in north China's Inner Mongolia, then Zamyn-Uud and Ulan Bator in Mongolia, followed by Naushki and Ulan-Ude in Russia before arriving in Irkutsk.

The train will stop at 33 stations when put into service. Time needed for a single journey of 7,858 kilometers is 132 hours, or 13 days round trip.
