(CNS) -- Overseas Chinese in the disaster area of Japan have begun to return to a normal life two years after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, according to chubun.com.

Dong Lu, a Chinese student at Fukushima University, which is located in the capital city of Fukushima Prefecture, said the average radiation in the air in Fukushima city fell below the permissible level and citizens can now open windows as in the past. Food in supermarkets is safe now and the rice produced by local farmers is safe, too, she added.

Dong said she has been cooperating with farmers to test more fruits, and radiation in most are below normal levels. Only some apples had higher radiation levels, she said.

Everything is back to normal and there is nothing to worry about, Dong said.

Akiyama Rika, a Chinese woman in Iwate Prefecture married to a Japanese man, said her house was destroyed in the tsunami, and it has been repaired with help from the local government.

"I bought a new car and found a job in a restaurant," she said. "I feel my life has been restored to the former state."
