Beijing (CNS) -- Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying and Macao SAR Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On arrived here on Monday to attend the first session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), which kicked off Tuesday morning.

Leung met with Hong Kong NPC deputies and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and other groups at the Beijing Hotel on Monday.

"On the road to China's sustainable development, we are all participants," Leung said at the meeting. Hong Kong will make full use of its advantages to help the residents of the SAR and people across the country.

"Meanwhile, we must recognize the inevitability and necessity of the common development of Hong Kong and the mainland, and deal with political, economic, social and livelihood relationships between the SAR and the mainland under the One Country, Two Systems policy," he added.
