‘World’s oldest runner’ retires after HK race   

近7万人参加香港马拉松 101岁跑手光荣引退

一年一度的香港马拉松24日在香港举行,今年有破纪录的7.2万人报名参加,101岁的印度裔英国人福贾·辛格完成比赛后光荣引退。

Hong Kong (CNS)-- Fauja Singh, who is 101 years old, announced his retirement after finishing a 10-kilometer race in one hour and 32 seconds Sunday in Hong Kong.

The event, which attracted competitors from around the globe and was attended by about 72,000 people, was launched by Hong Kong Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying.

Believed to be the world's oldest runner, Singh took up marathons at the age of 89. He was a farmer in Punjab, India, before moving to London in the 1960s.
