Washington (CNS) -- The US Department of Commerce on Wednesday announced its affirmative final determination in duty investigations of stainless steel sinks imported from China.

The department said that anti-dumping duties levied on drawn stainless steel sinks from China will range from 27.14 percent to 76.53 percent.

The US International Trade Commission is scheduled to make a final determination on the tariffs around April 5.

Imports of stainless steel sinks from China were valued at an estimated US$118 million in 2011, a 70-percent increase compared to 2009, according to the department.

A nearly century-old US company accused its Chinese competitors of selling at unfairly low prices and petitioned for an investigation in March 2012.

The US Commerce Department preliminarily determined that drawn stainless steel sinks from China were sold at dumping margins of 54.25 percent to 76.53 percent in July 2012. They also received countervailing subsidies of 2.12 percent to 13.94 percent in September the same year.
