Yanbian (CNS) – The nuclear test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on February 12 has not affected Chinese tourism in the country, according to travel agencies in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin Province on Friday.

After the test, travel agents didn't receive any notice from the DPRK government about prohibiting travel to the country, said Yan Dongzhu, manager of a local travel agency.

"Winter is the off-season for traveling to the DPRK, so the nuclear test's impact on tourism has not been noticeable," Yan said.

In recent years, the DPRK government has opened several tourist routes to China, including Chongjin and Mount Kumgang. Chinese tourists can visit the country via railway, cruise or automobile.
