Beijing (CNS) -- ZTE Corp hasn't received an official request to raise the price of exports to the European Union (EU), the telecommunications company said on Wednesday.

Karel De Gucht, trade commissioner of the EU, had reportedly requested Chinese companies Huawei Technologies and ZTE Corp to raise the price of their exports by 29 percent.

ZTE Corp said the words of an EU official do not equal an official statement by the European Trade Commission.

De Gucht was also said to have insisted that EU suppliers be given a 30 percent share of China's telecom market in return for dropping a contentious EU investigation into alleged subsidies to Chinese companies.

An internal report from the EU last December alleged that ZTE Corp and Huawei had been dumping wireless network equipment on the EU market for 35 percent less than fair market price.

Both companies have denied receiving illegal government subsidies many times before.
