Beijing (CNS)-- China's consumer prices will see an upward trend in 2013, according to a report released Saturday by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The report predicts that China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) will grow by 3.5 percent based on the 2012 level.

The CPI represents a major gauge of inflation in China.

Recovery of domestic demand will be the major reason behind the rising prices, and increasing labor costs will also contribute, according to the report.
