Death toll rises to 44 in China landslide  

云南镇雄山体滑坡已致44人遇难2人失踪

(Ecns.cn)--The death toll from a landslide which hit a village in Southwest China's Yunnan Province has risen to 44 with two still missing, reported the China News Service on Saturday morning.

The landslide hit the Zhaojiagou area of Gaopo Village around 8:20 a.m. Friday. Forty-six residents—27 adults and 19 children—were buried in the rock and mud debris.

Two other injured people were sent to a nearby hospital, and it has been confirmed that their injuries are not life-threatening.
