Beijing (CNS) -- Think tanks in China and abroad predict that China's economic growth will be at least 8 percent this year.

China's Academy of Social Sciences said the country's gross domestic product will increase by 8.2 percent and its consumer price index will grow by 3 percent.

The Development Research Center under the State Council and the State Information Center both agreed that China's economy will grow by more than 8 percent this year.

The World Bank raised its 2013 economic growth forecast for China to 8.4 percent, citing the government's fiscal stimulus plans and faster approval of large investment projects.

Tim Condon, chief Asia economist at ING Financial Markets, forecast a growth of 9 percent.

The upbeat assessment has been stoked by the tone of the central economic work conference, which proposed improving the quality and efficiency of economic growth while maintaining stability.
