New book reveals history of Dunhuang   

《敦煌史迹》出版发行 讲述敦煌千年发展历程

《敦煌史迹》近日由甘肃人民美术出版社出版发行，这是一部讲述2000多年敦煌历史文化形成发展历程的书籍，全书约20万字，时间范围从公元前111年敦煌建郡置县直至新中国成立。

Lanzhou(CNS) -- A new book called "History of Dunhuang" explores the development path of the Dunhuang civilization over the past 2,000 years, according to an official in Jiuquan, Gansu Province, on Monday.

The book provides insight into the uniqueness of the culture and its important contributions to world civilization, the official said.

It also answers the question of how Dunhuang transformed from a nomadic grassland culture into a transportation hub on the Silk Road, eventually becoming the historic city of today, said Dou Xiafu, the book's author.
