Shanghai (CNS) -- The "Yuzheng 206," one of China's largest and most advanced fishery patrol ships, set out on its maiden voyage near the Diaoyu Islands on Tuesday.

The 5,800-tonne ship shows the country's determination to protect maritime interests as well as the safety of fishermen, analysts said.

Zhao Xingwu, director of the nation's fishery administration, said during the launch ceremony that the Yuzheng 206 will play a positive role in patrolling the waters near the Diaoyu Islands and strengthen the country's offshore law enforcement capacity.
