Stockholm (CNS) -- Mo Yan on Monday received the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden, where he was regaled with Chinese characteristics.

A group of Chinese students stood outside the concert hall and welcomed Mo by singing the theme from the movie "Red Sorghum" which was based on his novel of the same name.

King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf awarded Mo the Nobel diploma, medal and a document confirming the prize amount. After that, the orchestra performed the "Chinese Dance" from the "Aladdin Suite."

Mo's winning of the Nobel Prize has brought more international interest to Chinese literature, which will improve the literary exchange between China and other countries, said Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Lan Lijun.
