历时5年多建设，纵贯中国东北的哈大高铁(哈尔滨至大连)12月1日正式开通运营，这是世界首条穿越高寒地区的高铁线路。
Changchun (CNS) -- Residents of NE China are gearing up for big changes to the region's economy in the wake of the new Harbin-Dalian high-speed railway line which opened Saturday.
"You can have a cup of morning tea in Harbin, enjoy the sea view from Dalian at noon, go shopping in Shenyang in the afternoon and listen to a song-and-dance duet in the evening before returning to Harbin," said a netizen.
"The rail benefits transportation in the northeast region, but more importantly it will change the urban and economic layout here," said Li Chenggu, a professor at Northeast Normal University specializing in the regional economy.
A new cluster of cities may emerge in area, Li added.
The railway will enhance the circulation of workers and promote the optimal allocation of resources among cities in the region, said Sun Zhiming, head of the Economic Research Institute at the Jilin Provincial Academy of Social Sciences.
