Hong Kong (CNS) -- Twenty descendants of the Aisin-Gior clan, the ruling house of the Qing Dynasty, are displaying their artworks at an exhibition in Hong Kong.

"We hope to inherit and manifest the essence of the Chinese nation," said Aisin-Gior Hengzhen, the sixth generation granddaughter of Emperor Daoguang (1821-1850).

The contemporary Aisin-Gior family has bred more than 100 world famous artists, according to Aisin-Gioro Yuan, a niece to Aisin-Gior Puyi (1909-1912), the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty.

The royal family background, the special education conditions and unique artistic expressions make the "Aisin-Gioro style," and it has been our family tradition to learn traditional painting and calligraphy, Yuan said.

Hosted by Bauhinia Magazine, the exhibition has over 100 paintings and calligraphies. It will last till Nov. 22 at the Hong Kong Central Library.
