Tokyo (CNS) -- About 30 percent of Japanese businesses have felt negative impacts from the deteriorating China-Japan relationship, with the auto industry bearing the brunt, according to a poll released Wednesday by Teikoku Databank, a Japanese corporate credit research agency.

A total of 3,122 businesses, or 29.6 percent of all the companies that participated in the poll, said their businesses had been affected.

Yet the auto industry has been by far the hardest hit. Sales of Japanese cars in China fell sharply in October from a year earlier: Honda reported its sales fell by 53.5 percent, Nissan 40.7 percent, Mazda 45 percent and Toyota 44.1 percent, according to the latest industry data.

In response Wednesday, some non-governmental organizations in Japan called for normalized Sino-Japanese relations.
