Calligraphy students set Guinness World Record  

河南920人共书“菊” 创世界吉尼斯纪录

18日，在河南开封大学体育馆内，920人在宣纸长卷上共同书写“菊”字，创下世界纪录。吉尼斯世界纪录驻中国认证官吴晓红当场宣布，这是世界上规模最大的书法课。

Kaifeng (CNS) -- A total of 920 calligraphy lovers simultaneously wrote the character "菊" (literally "daisy") on Xuan Paper scrolls at Kaifeng University Stadium in Henan Province on Thursday.

It was the world's largest-scale calligraphy class, Wu Xiaohong, a certification officer from Guinness, said at the site.

The participants are of different ages and backgrounds, but hold the same passion for traditional Chinese calligraphy, Wu said.

It is difficult to write the character well, as it has many strokes and a complicated structure, said vice mayor Chen Guozhen, who attended the activity.
