Coastal provinces order patrol boats

中国北方沿海省份河北、山东、辽宁海事局已向江西省同方江新造船有限公司各订购一艘60米级巡逻船。该型巡逻船总长64米，续航力大于1800海里，可搭载一架直升机。

Nanchang (CNS) -- Maritime authorities in Hebei, Shandong and Liaoning provinces have ordered patrol vessels from the Tongfang Jiangxin Shipbuilding Corporation, the company said on Thursday.

Valued at over 100 million yuan (US$15.86 million), each of the three vessels is 64 meters long and able to accommodate eight to twelve crew members. The boats can also serve as landing pads for helicopters in emergency situations.

The vessels will be used to patrol and monitor waters within 50 nautical miles off the three provinces.

The shipbuilding company said they will start manufacturing in October, and expect to deliver the boats by the end of 2013.
