Military courts to hear more civil cases  

中国扩大军事法院管辖民事案件范围

中国最高人民法院16日对外发布《关于军事法院管辖民事案件若干问题的规定》，适当扩大了军事法院管辖民事案件的范围，同时进一步加强对地方诉讼当事人权益的保护。

Beijing (CNS) – China's highest court issued a regulation here on Sunday that gives military courts permission to handle more civil cases.

In the past, local courts have had difficulties dealing with cases involving military personnel, while military courts couldn't accept such civil cases – this caused some cases to be delayed, said a law expert from the Supreme People's Court.

According to the new rules, when no military court is available in the district or when one party lives in a remote area with poor transportation, local courts can manage the case under the agreement of both the plaintiff and the defendant.

The regulation went into effect today.
