Beijing (CNS) – Chinese tennis player Li Na deflected questions about her age at Peking University on Wednesday during a publicity tour for her autobiography "Play Alone."

"I am in good shape and age doesn't matter to me," she said in front of more than 500 fans.

The 30-year-old tennis star said that most Chinese journalists had pressed her about retirement, while foreign ones rarely did.

Li went on to describe tennis as a "lonely" sport: When you play alone, you have to challenge yourself and accept the ending whether it is happy or sad, she said.

In her book, Li writes about her athletic rise and personal life, including her relationship with her parents and 14-year marriage to Jiang Shan.

Li won the 2011 French Open singles title, becoming the first player from China to win a Grand Slam in singles.
