Provinces push for liquor internationalization

Guiyang (CNS) -- Officials and industry insiders urged companies to internationalize Chinese liquor at a forum held Sunday in southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The Summit Forum of the China Liquor Industry was part of the 2nd China (Guizhou) International Alcoholic Beverage Expo.

Zhunyi of Guizhou and Luzhou and Yibin of Sichuan form the "golden triangle" of major liquor makers Maotai and Luzhou, whose production in 2011 totaled 2.07 million kiloliters, or 20 percent of the Chinese market.

Guizhou and Sichuan should enhance strategic cooperation on resource integration in order to form world famous brands and push forward the internalization of Chinese liquor, said Liu Jie, vice governor of Sichuan Province.

China should also accelerate the international standard drafting of liquor, suggested Xu Yan, vice president of Jiangnan University.
