Beijing (CNS) – Control of China's fourth geostationary meteorological satellite, the FY-2F, has been transferred to the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and officially put into use, the CMA announced Monday.
The FY-2F is designed to have a longer service life and higher accuracy, and is significant to forecasting major weather events, said Wei Caiying, deputy director general of the National Satellite Meteorological Center of the CMA.
The FY-2F was launched in January.
