Shanghai vows to become int'l shipping center   

交通运输部与上海签备忘录共建国际航运中心

中国交通运输部、上海市政府10日在上海签署《加快推进国际航运中心建设深化合作备忘录》，标志着上海国际航运中心建设进入一个新的历史阶段

Shanghai (CNS) -- China's Ministry of Transport and the Shanghai city government have agreed to work together to turn the city into an international shipping center.

In a memorandum signed Friday, the two parties agreed to optimize the city's shipping and distribution system, establish a comprehensive international shipping zone and promote the cruise sector.

Song Dexing, an official from the ministry, said they would also enhance supervision of water traffic to ensure security.
