Beijing (CNS) -- The 2012 Camp for foreign families with adopted Chinese children will start on Tuesday in Beijing. Thirty-four families from the countries of Ireland, Australia, France, Canada and others are attending the camp, with 42 children adopted in China.

Zhouhong, an official from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, said they are grateful to the adoptive parents, and he is especially touched that they encourage their children to study Chinese and even cook them Chinese dishes.

Crystal Cargil from the US said her daughter was excited about the chance to visit her homeland. "If you want to know where you will go in the future," Cargil said, "you must be clear where you came from, so we returned to China with out daughter to help her discover her roots."

Some 110,000 Chinese kids have been adopted by foreign families since the government issued its Laws of Adoption in 1991.
