Hefei (CNS) -- The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) took second place at the 16th RoboCup, with its upgraded version of service robot Ke Jia and its integrated intelligence.

This year's world class robot competition based its assessments on essays and 2D simulations, bringing together contestants between June 18 and 24. USTC sent the only Chinese team that has ever made it into the world's top 5.

Last year USTC was runner up to the champion entered by Bonn University, Germany, which took first place again this time.

The upgraded version of Ke Jia B1 is the third generation after A1 and A2, and marks a significant level of achievement in the series of robots.

The annual RoboCup originated in Japan in 1997 and its purpose is to solve key technological problems in engineering applications through simulations.
