Nanning (CNS) -- China will continue to curb illegal cross-border wildlife trading by endorsing international exchanges and cooperation programs, said Director Meng Xianlin with the Endangered Species Import and Export Management Office, Tuesday.

China and ASEAN held a dialogue about enforcing the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) on Monday and Tuesday.

As a major wildlife resource and consumer country, China is facing great challenges regulating international trade in order to eradicatre illegal activities, asserted Meng.

A multilateral management and enforcement body was formed for this sake, with forestry and agriculture authorities as the main players. Assistance is expected from police, customs, and industrial and commercial supervisory departments.

China has invested hundreds of billions of yuan into nationwide ecological projects, including conservation zones, assistance and breeding bases, and recently, germplasm bases.
