Hong Kong (CNS) -- To cope with an upcoming boom in the construction sector, a fund of 320 million Hong Kong dollars will be used to train local laborers aged 35 and under, said Lee Shing-see, chairman of Hong Kong's Construction Industry Council (CIC), earlier this week.

The fund is co-invested by the Hong Kong government and the CIC, Lee said, adding that until now the council has seen a 50 percent growth in their training programs for young students.

Among Hong Kong's registered 290,000 construction workers, 40 percent are older than 50.
