Hong Kong (CNS) -- As Hong Kong enters its second golden era of infrastructure construction, the demand for labor is growing correspondingly.
The local government prioritizes training local labor over inputting it, said Carrie Lam, secretary of the SAR's Development Bureau on Thursday.
The local government has spent 62.3 billion Hong Kong dollars on infrastructure projects this year, and will hold their annual investment commitment at 70 billion Hong Kong dollarsfor the next few years, said Lam.
To protect the rights and interests of hundreds of thousands of local workers, our government will work together with the industry to train a new local labor force, added Lam. She therefore appeals to contractors to offer safe, comfortable and environmentally-friendly construction sites that will lure more people to work in the industry.
