25,480 apply for 1,000 official posts in Xinjiang

Urumqi (CNS) -- As of May 16, 25,480 public servants of different levels had entered an open competition for 1,365 positions in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, according to an official source on Thursday.

The written examination will be held in Xinjiang on May 20.

The local government attaches great importance to attracting brilliant people who can work at the grass-roots level. A total of 1,137 heads and communist party village and urban community secretaries put their names in the running.

For the first time requirements for the positions mention no age limits, a proviso which excludes members of the Communist Youth League. The oldest applicant is aged 59 and the youngest one is 22.
