Beijing (CNS) -- A subsidiary of China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corporation Limited (CSR) won a contract at an international bidding on Tuesday to provide trains for the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway line.

According to the contract, CSR is slated to hand over nine trains to the line, all with eight carriages and an upper speed of 350 km per hour.

The new railway will run a length of 142 km from Guangzhou South to West Kowloon in Hong Kong via Shenzhen. The Hong Kong section is expected to be completed by 2015.

Experts attribute CSR's competitiveness to its independent technology CRH380A train, which is evaluated as having highly secure, reliable, economical and comfortable features, as well as impressive performances in anti-collision, fire-resistance and electromagnetic compatibility.
